Effective Immediately - March 13, 2020
On Friday, March 13, 2020, a coronavirus case was confirmed in the Wichita community, moving our medical center into Tier 3.
It’s important you know, the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center has been working from the very beginning of this situation to keep staff, Veterans and visitors safe.
To date, the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center has not encountered anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19. The facility is following CDC guidelines for intake precautions.
While the Department of Health and Human Services is leading the federal government’s COVID-19 response efforts, VA is monitoring the situation through its Emergency Management Coordination Cell and collaborating with public health officials from HHS and the Centers for Disease Control to ensure Veterans benefit from the latest prevention, testing and treatment protocols and develop emergency management plans for medical centers.
We continue to work with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Sedgwick County Health Department to learn of potential cases and concerns that could impact you and your family.
The Dole VAMC has established four responsive “Tier Levels.” These levels are used to identify levels of concerns that could impact you.
We are now in Tier Level 3, which means:
• Visitors restricted from CLC.
• Visitors for Hospice allowed and
screened by CLC staff.
• No inpatient visitors.
• All Veterans and visitors are screened.
• Kiosk check-in turned off.
• Phased telework for some staff.
• Access to the facility limited to:
5B - Behavioral Health
29 - Primary Care
60 - PM&R
62 - Emergency Department
