Each year, River CIty Painting  invites our community to nominate a deserving veteran whose home could benefit from a fresh coat of paint. After reviewing the nominations, we select one veteran to receive a professionally painted home exterior at absolutely no cost.

The Brush of Honor program is River CIty Painting's  way of expressing gratitude for the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served in our armed forces. A fresh exterior not only enhances curb appeal but also helps protect and preserve the home for years to come. River City Painting is honored to use their skills to make a meaningful difference and celebrate the veterans who have given so much to our community and our country.

Efforts are being made by other organization to revise this event

 Valley Center Community Center to host a Veteran’s Health Fair, 

the VA is planning for Friday, August 21st, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (a two-hour event).

The fair will highlight our medical center’s programs and offer support with additional Veterans’ benefits as needed. We look forward to your participation!

• Title: Connecting Veterans with VA Healthcare and Benefits
• Collaboration: VBA and VSR will be providing resources for Veterans and nearby areas.
• Focus: Healthcare programs and other VA benefits

 The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) has announced a new funding opportunity for volunteer fire, EMS, and rescue departments through the Ricochet PPE Award Program. Ricochet has partnered with the NVFC to provide 75 sets of EMS, wildland, and technical rescue PPE to volunteer departments nationwide through three separate application periods. 

The program will award five departments with five sets of gear each during each application period, for a total of 15 departments receiving PPE packages. 

Application periods include:

• August 3 – August 31: Ricochet Out Front™ Technical Rescue Gear 
• September 1 – September 30: Ricochet Wildland Gear
• October 1 – October 30: Ricochet Wildland + Technical Rescue Dual-Cert Gear

Eligible departments must:

• Be more than 50% volunteer
• Serve a population of 25,000 or less
• Have at least one NVFC member
• Respond to the type of incidents associated with the gear requested
• Demonstrate a need for the PPE

We encourage eligible departments to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance responder safety with purpose-built PPE designed for specific operational needs.
